AND YET ANOTHER LIE

Last year,  Bret Gordon joined National Karate Juijitsu Federation (NKJF) and was abruptly asked to leave this organization by the owner and then president of the NKJF Steven Johnson. The reason given was that Gordon was not able to prove his martial arts background. About two weeks ago Gordon posted on his online blog boasting that he had been "reinstated" in the NKJF, the National Karate Jiujitsu Federation. https://bretgordon.weebly.com/blog/nkjf-reinstatement#/ He posted a letter from the new President off the NKJF proudly asserting his reinstatement.

On the heels of my exposing how he lied about Jack Stern, Yusaki Hatashi, the daitoryu and that he covered up the multiple acts of rape of a convicted pedophile, Gordon approached the NKJF again joined and became the state representative.  Gordon wasted no time in using this "reinstatement" as his vindication to proclaim that everything that was written about him were lies.

Just a few days ago the current President and the board of ethics committee permanently banned Gordon. The letter, dated the 12th, is very clear on what they found and the grounds of his lifetime expulsion. 

So if Gordon was cleared as he had initially claimed, then why was he banned for life? 

Looking at the expulsion letter the NKJF obviously looked deeper into Gordon's claims. It appears that just few weeks after his "reinstatement", the NKJF uncovered that Gordon wasn't forthcoming with the truth to get his reinstatement. I find it interesting that a court outcome was mentioned in the letter. I have to ask if Gordon told the NKJF that he won his case against Dumas? He has stated that before. However, there is not a single record or official document of Gordon winning ANY court case.

According to Gordon's post on his blog on the 14th, he wrote that he "stepped down". However his stepping down doesn't appear to be the case. 

 

According to a statement issued by Mr. Johnson Gordon's Lifetime expulsion took place two days prior to his blog post (pictured left). Gordon no doubt knew he was going had been permanently banned.  Johnson also mentions that other NKJF members who were affiliated with Gordon and his instructor later resigned voluntarily. 

 A lifetime expulsion or lifetime ban from a martial arts organization is a very serious consequence and is typically reserved for the most serious offenses. These typically include, serious misconduct or criminal behavior. Ethical or moral misconduct such as abuse of students, sexual misconduct, financial exploitation, violence outside the dojo and or criminal activity or behavior. Fraudulent Claims or Rank Misrepresentation such as claiming ranks never earned, self-promoting without recognition, falsifying lineage or selling fake certificates. The NKJF Expulsion letter speaks for itself.

Lastly, an expelled instructor's students’ ranks may no longer be recognized. They could be told their belts don’t “count” anymore, especially if they continue under the banned instructor. Other schools or organizations may not only follow suit with the ban but also question the legitimacy of a student's rank and lineage if it’s tied to an expelled teacher.

UPDATE 9/17/25 :

Recently after this article was posted, Gordon recorded himself burning a certificate, that he received from the NKJF, outside of his dojo. He then published the footage on his social media page. This calculated act of destruction and self-promotion amplifies the perception of behavior that is both disturbing and unhinged. 

It is important to note that Mr. Gordon’s conflict with the organization arose after the discovery of misrepresentations in the information that he himself had submitted to the NKJF for consideration. Instead o actually proving his background he burned the NKJF certificate, after claiming he stepped down. Gordon claims the expulsion was a retaliation. 

It is my understanding that one of the persons on the NKJF ethics committee contacted the Ohatchee Police dept and verified that Gordon was indeed personally involved with the online harassment and threats toward my student Randy Engle and his then 13 year old daughter. These threats included Randy being told that they would "skin his daughter alive, peel her like a grape in front of him". 

The board member's discussion with the Ohatchee police dept. was what determined Gordon's lifetime expulsion. 

It is also my understanding that only a single board member was dismissive of what the Police had to say about what Gordon had done and that particular board member resigned from the NKJF. Interestingly enough this board member had received his black belt ranks via Gordon. 

Gordon's own actions and misbehaviors are what garnered him his expulsion. PERIOD.

Lastly, members of the NKJF have apologized to me and for any pain that this may have caused my student, his family and myself.  There was absolutely no reason for them to apologize to me. None. I will say that those heartfelt apologies exhibited the moral character that every martial artist should have. 

Update 10/9/25

Not 24 hours after the founder of the NKJF, Steven Johnson, recognized my ranks in Judo and Karate, Gordon attempted to slander me again, and posted on his own social media page that I was a convicted felon. Telling yet another lie. 

For more than thirty years I have kept coaching credentials in judo, wrestling and boxing among others, all of which i have had to undergo criminal background checks annually. Most recently went through two more background checks. One for judo referee certification earlier this year and another for Karate coach just a week ago.
