I am going to keep this one short and sweet.
24 hours after I posted my article pertaining to Bret Gordon's Daito ryu connection claims (READ HERE) that included a statement and letter from the Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu kodokai.....
"There is no connection between Bret Gordon and the Daito ryu Aikijujutsu Kodokai organization either here in the USA or in Japan. Any claims he is making regarding such a connection are entirely false.
The Daito ryu Aikijujutsu Kodokai organization keeps strict records of it's members. There is and has never been a "Hasaka Yutashi" who trained in the Kodokai organization either here in the USA or in Japan. There is no basis for him to claim that his organization is based on or connected with the Kodokai in any way shape or form, much like the claim he mentions about Yoshinkan aikido.
Furthermore, Gordon should should specifically state that his organization has no historical ties, lineage or affiliation with the Daito ryu Aikijujutsu Kodokai organization. Additionally the individual depicted in the photograph included in his book has never held any rank or title within the Daito ryu Aikijujutsu Kodokai organization in either the USA or Japan.
I hope this clarification is helpful. Please feel free to reach if any further information is needed."
Sincerely, Donald Quintana

Letter from Donald Quintana Kodokai Secretary of General Affairs |
It appears now that the former General Secretary from the Daito Ryu Aiki Jujutsu Kodokai organization has also spoken out about Gordon's spurious claims and blatant misrepresentation of Daito Ryu connections.
Gordon has spent years making claim after claim of extensive training in various styles martial arts the longest of which being claimed Daito-ryu connections to his American Yoshinkan Aiki Jujutsu. He has also gone to great lengths to protect his fallacies. When asked to verify these claims...He has threatened to show up at people's dojos, called people out and even threatened some with an attorney and potential legal action.
There is certainly no need to fear or heed any threat of any kind from the likes of Gordon. It's all been rendered IMPOTENT....FRIVOLOUS.....A JOKE. This certainly extends to those around him....students and colleagues in the martial arts.
Much like getting sprayed by a skunk the stench remains long after the skunk leaves, Gordon's false claims and unethical behavior are a stench that will cling to Gordon and even those who trained with him for a long, long time.
Gordon, as stated in my last article, is a 30 something year old white guy playing at being Japanese. Being a MASTER appropriator of Japanese cultural you would think Gordon would know that in Japan, such purposeful martial arts falsehoods and blatant misrepresentations is a criminal offense. In Japan, fraud and even attempted fraud is punishable by time in prison, with a potential sentence of up to 10 years of imprisonment with work. Penal Code Article 246.....It’s not some civil matter that comes with a slap on the wrist. It is an egregious act to the Japanese culture.
Only Gordon and Gordon alone is responsible for all his misrepresentation and the extent to which it effects those around him.
Despite being just forty minutes away Gordon avoided getting the mats with me like the plague. Instead, he went to great lengths to harass and intimidate one of my students and his 13 year old daughter who live out of state.
Those who have been around Gordon for years have indeed supported this behavior, via through direct action, verbal support or silence, they relegated themselves as accomplices to his actions. Every single one of these people owe my student, his daughter, my instructors and myself written apologies.
Lastly, if other schools don't want these people in their dojo or other organizations don't want to accept them or recognize their ranks, those institutions certainly have good cause for those decisions. They can all certainly thank Gordon for the ostracization.
